What is covered under this insurance policy for nurses?

Nursing insurance under the allied health professionals insurance covers nurses (RN or EN), nurse practitioners, in-patient nurses, doulas, nursing students and is designed to include both professional indemnity, public liability and products liability.

It includes insurance limits of up to $10m professional indemnity and $20m public and products liability, plus reinstatements. This policy also includes retroactive cover for otherwise uncovered matters arising from prior practice.

The policy is suitable for nurses working remotely, providing telehealth services, or in an institution.

The policy also covers nurses working full time, part time or as a freelancer. 
Public Liability

Public liability insurance protects you and your business against any liability if someone is injured on your premises or while you are providing your nursing services in Australia.

Professional Indemnity

Professional indemnity insurance protects you for claims made against your business in the course of providing your professional nursing services in Australia.

Third Party Property Damage

Products liability insurance protects you for claims made against your nursing business in Australia for any products sold or supplied by you to a third party.

Investigation Costs

Investigation costs cover legal costs and expenses in responding to an investigation from an official body on a complaint made against you or your nursing services.

Defamation

Protects you and your business against any actual or alleged defamation, or harm to the reputation of a third party online or in public in relation to the provision of your nursing services.

Contract Review

This entitles you to four contract reviews each year you have your nursing insurance. This can be used for any contract that might impact your insurance policy. An example of this might be retaining a contractor.

Complimentary Legal Advice

This provides 1 hour of complimentary legal advice to you each year from our insurance partner's panel of solicitors, for any matter which is notified to us and may become a claim.

Whistleblower Hotline

You and your business employees can access a Whistleblower Hotline that is provided by our insurance partner at no additional cost to you.

What is not covered (exclusions) under the nursing insurance policy?

Abuse

Abuse excludes cover for any insurance claim that might arise from actual or alleged verbal, physical, sexual abuse, molestation, assault, battery or violence.

Dishonest / wilful acts

Dishonest and/or wilful acts exclude cover for any insurance claim that might arise from dishonest, fraudulent or criminal acts.

Alcohol and Drugs

This excludes cover for any insurance claim that might arise from use of alcohol, illegal drugs, narcotics and intoxicants
